Every year, starting in the Spring, we try to get together every couple of weeks or so with people interested in the delivery trip to Belize. We could do this at a local restaurant, but we found out that it's more fun, if one of you offers to host a "Belize Party" at your house. It's a chance to ask questions, and meet some of the other people who might be on the trip. I'll show up with my box of Belize goodies, maps, pictures, and souvenirs- and a sign-up sheet. It's a pot-luck affair, so everybody else is asked to bring a plate of supper or dessert items.
At the end of May/early June is when school gets out, and we really get buried in supplies. Then, we'll have a series of weekly work parties, out at Bookbag Santa's Workshop. These are also pot-luck events, usually on a Wednesday from 6:00 to about 8:00 PM, and consist of sorting through boxes of supplies to separate out the good stuff. We take the grunt work... and make it fun. It's a chance to get to know the others in the group, find out who wants a room-mate at the hotel, and who can car-pool to the airport & back.
